Dear Parents/Guardians

Welcome back, I hope you had a lovely holiday and are ready for a very busy term.

CAR PARK

Thank you to the Tagwirei family for re-surfacing the parents’ car park. This was a very kind donation to our school and I know that many parents are delighted with this progress.

Unfortunately, the car park is not ready for use yet. Thank you to the P.A. for directing the traffic and to you, the parents, for following the instructions and being patient in the delay. We are hoping to be able to use the car park next week.

CONSULTATION DAY – THURSDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER

Please note that this is mainly for parents who want to query last term’s report or are concerned about their child’s progress. Please complete the appointment sheets outside the classrooms. Computer, Shona and Remedial forms are on the library door. Please make an appointment to see these teachers.

CRICKET CLINIC

This will be held from 1.30 – 4.30 pm Wednesday 5th September to Friday 7th September.

The program has been well planned with excellent techniques and exercises and will be worthwhile as the teams will miss some practices due to the holidays. The cost is $5.00 per day. Sharon Sport’s kit must be worn with a hat and please include plenty of water to drink and a snack for the tea break.

ROSH HASHANAH

We will be celebrating the Jewish New Year on Friday 7th September at 11.30 am. The children need to wear white and parents are welcome to attend our celebration where Mr Leon will blow the Shofar and Mr Kably will talk to the children. The shofar was blown on Mount Sinai when the Torah was given.

Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the Jewish New Year and the beginning of the ten days of atonement, which ends on Yom Kippur.

Rosh is the Hebrew word for ‘head’ Ha is the definite article Shanah means year.

On Rosh Hashanah we eat apples and honey as a symbol for a sweet year ahead.

These Holy Days are days of prayer, looking into one’s self and trying to make a difference and change for the better.

Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th September is Rosh Hashanah and the school will be closed.
