When founded in 1960 in Park Street, Salisbury it was solely for Jewish Children moving to the current location in 1964 and Sharon now opens its doors to children of all cultures and regions. The aim of the school is to offer a high quality education in a Jewish cultural environment that will identify and develop the potential of each child. Pupil enrolment that will identify and develop the potential of each child. Pupil enrolment includes Muslim, Jewish and Christian children, whose parents choose Sharon for its environment, which embraces tolerance, understanding and compassion for diverse cultures and religions.
The School is renowned for the generosity of its parents and pupil body, which regularly give to local charities, old age homes and orphanages. Because of the excellent grounding Sharon pupils receive, Zimbabwe high schools are always keen to include Sharon children in their Form One intake.
Although there are only a few Jewish pupils enrolled, the school provides a religious and cultural haven for the these children. Jewish history and Hebrew is taught, and Jewish Festivals and Shabbat celebrated.
Sharon is a member of the A.T.S (private schools' organisation, which ensures these schools are non-profit making).
